Bobbins of carbon fiber sit on spindles in the creel room of the Toray Composites plant in Frederickson. This is the starting point for the resin-infused carbon tape that is the raw material for composite plastic. Most of the skin of the 787 Dreamliner and much that lies beneath will be made from this material, not aluminum.
