A "bridge," essentially a long hallway on piers that serves as a library, links family room and office, the two main elements of the addition. Two bedrooms, at left, have partition walls hung on steel beams. Because these are not load-bearing walls, they can be shifted or removed to create a larger office or studio space, when needed.
