Northwest primary care medicine: Curing what ails us
Dr. Lili Sacks of Qliance examines a patient at its primary-care clinic in downtown Seattle. Rather than taking payments from insurers on a for-service basis, the Qliance clinic charges patients a retainer of $39 to $129 a month, depending on patient age and level of services. The goal is threefold: to improve care and keep costs down while encouraging doctors to stay in primary care by offering them more satisfying work.
