Loving machines and the dreams they inspire, airplane enthusiasts pursue their passion
Bob Dempster and volunteers start putting together the pieces of the Seattle II, the World Cruiser reproduction they are building. The project moved to a huge hangar near Boeing Field, lent by the Boeing Co., after it outgrew its Renton Airport space. Dempster, Fred Hazelton, Gary Carmichael and Lee Sanislo (far right) admire part of the crankcase for the Cruiser's 420-horsepower Liberty V-12 engine, which they'll use in the replica.
