Bob Dempster, who is building a reproduction of a 1924 Douglas World Cruiser, the Seattle, has had to re-create some key fittings from scratch, using sketchy old plans, measurements from one now enshrined in a museum and pieces from the original Seattle, which crashed. Dempster calls his little notebook "my palm pilot."
