Stefan Christopher, who joined a religious commune near Eatonville and became a preacher, is seen driving a tractor there on a muddy road. Later, in the early 1980s, he worked on a United Nations project in Bangladesh, met a young woman there and converted to Islam to marry first her and later her 12-year-old sister. He returned to rural Western Washington with members of the same family, where a reign of threats, beatings and child molestation came to light only after a teen girl’s suicide.
