How Seattle police seized control of volatile May Day night

 A FLOOD OF BIKES: Seattle police used dozens of bikes Wednesday — first to assist the flow of peaceful demonstrators, and later as a portable fence to control unruly protesters. The bikes also helped police speed to the aid of fellow officers who were making arrests amid the rock- and bottle-throwing crowd. Above, bicycle officers move down Olive Way near Seventh Avenue.
