Helping parents find a path for special-needs kids

Colton Kivela, who has Down syndrome, works with speech-language pathologist Ann McMahon on wiping his face after a meal at Kindering Center. The center serves about 3,500 children, providing physical and speech therapy and special education for children up to 3 years old. It is one of 12 nonprofits assisted by The Seattle Times Fund for the Needy.
