40 years after Boldt, the fight goes on over fewer and fewer fish

A freshly caught hatchery steelhead lies on the rocky beach behind a row of sports fishermen at the hatchery hole on the Bogachiel River. Many sport anglers believe tribal fishermen, given the threatened nature of some wild fish runs, should abandon gill nets and devise their own “selective” fisheries to separate hatchery fish from troubled wild stocks.
