Volunteers hunt for the truth about our place in the Civil War

Washington Territorial Gov. William Pickering was a friend and political appointee of President Abraham Lincoln’s. Pickering’s letters, which were among the documents analyzed in a “Civil War read-in” last year, shed light on how the war period affected the Northwest.
