Cold temperatures shatter records in Seattle

The cold snap freezes water flowing off the Pacific Science Center fountains at Seattle Center as a youngster on a kindergarten tour dances by on Thursday. Seattle-born architect Minoru Yamasaki designed the building and the fountains for the 1962 World’s Fair and to create a quiet sanctuary from the noise and crowds.
