Seattle company gets OK to move ahead on offshore wind farm

A prototype of the offshore turbines proposed for use off the coast of Oregon, if a Seattle company’s project gets approved, gets readied in 2011 to be towed 250 miles from the Sado River in Portugal to Aguçadoura on the country’s coast. The 2-megawatt prototype, a smaller version of the 6-megawatt turbines that could be deployed off Coos Bay, is operating and connected to a power grid.
