Allen Institute scientists try to decode mouse brain to understand our own

A diamond-tipped slicer is used to prepare a piece of a mouse's brain, top, for examination at the Allen Institute for Brain Science. Clay Reid left his job at Harvard Medical School to be the senior investigator at the Seattle institute to try to build the tools and knowledge to explain how the brain works.
