The scene in Kinnear Park, 1900

NOW: Friends of Lower Kinnear Park gather there to celebrate its recent reopening after restoration. The landscape architecture firm HBB guided the design and work involved, including the paths, the 1947 tennis court, behind the fence here, and the park’s new Off-Leash Area for dogs. HBB’s Dean Koonts notes that the two trees at upper-right are included in the list of Seattle’s “Exceptional Trees.” The closer one is a copper beach; behind it stands a European hornbeam.
