Horse going to greener pastures after owner’s heartbreaking tragedy

Return of the King, once a prized racehorse, was pulled from an auction by Megan Gaynes, who runs a horse-rescue organization. She said the gelding was in such bad shape that she feared he might hurt himself further if ridden during the auction. The horse is in her care until he can be moved back to the pastures of his birthplace. “He’s almost more like a dog than a horse,” she said. “You can tell he’s been loved.”
