Video | Terry McDermott on "101 Theory Drive: One Neuroscientist's Quest for Memory"

"Author's Hour" host Terry Tazioli chats with former L.A. Times reporter Terry McDermott about his book, "101 Theory Drive: One Neuroscientist's Quest for Memory."

Author's Hour airs Sundays at noon, 7pm, and 10pm on channel 23 (or others.)

Coming up:

Sunday, May 9: Craig Walsh, "Shell Games"

Sunday, May 16: David Remnick, "The Bridge: The Life and Rise of Barack Obama"

Sunday, May 23: Jeffrey Wasserstrom, "China in the 21st Century: What Everyone Needs to Know"

Sunday, May 30: David Nicandri, "River of Promise: Lewis and Clark on the Columbia"

You're invited

Be part of a TV studio audience at the Bellevue King County Library as host Terry Tazioli interviews these authors:

• Monday, May 24 @ 7pm: David Nicandri, "River of Promise: Lewis and Clark on the Columbia." Most narratives emphasize Lewis and Clark’s adventures through the Bitterroot Mountains, but say little about their travels west of there. 'River of Promise' shifts the focus to an essential goal of the explorers: to discover the headwaters of the Columbia and a water route to the Pacific Ocean.

• Monday, June 14 @ 7pm: Solveig Torvik, "The World's Best Place: Norway and the Norwegians." The United Nations says Norway is the world's best place to live. So what's it like to live there? Who are these people, and what are their civic and cultural values? An unblinking look at celebrated, and uncelebrated, aspects of this paradoxical socialist welfare state by a Norwegian-American journalist.

• Monday, June 21 @ 7pm: John Hughes, WA Secretary of State's Legacy Project. From former Gov. Booth Gardner to Yakima-Valley-farm-kid-turned-NASA-astronaut Bonnie Dunbar, the Washington Secretary of State Office’s John Hughes has now penned bios on close to a dozen Evergreen State citizens, chronicling their unique and compelling stories.

"Author's Hour" host Terry Tazioli chats with former L.A. Times reporter Terry McDermott about his book, "101 Theory Drive: One Neuroscientist's Quest for Memory." The book profiles UC-Irvine scientist, Gary Lynch, and his decades-long quest to understand the brain's memory machine.

TVW's "Author's Hour," with host Terry Tazioli, focuses on books about public policy, politics, and history, with a particular emphasis on Washington and the Pacific Northwest. The show features both hosted interviews and authors' book readings. "Author's Hour" airs Sundays at Noon, 7 p.m., and 10 p.m.
