“Moving Target” by J.A. Jance (Touchstone, $25.99). Best-selling Seattle-area author’s latest novel, part of her Ali Reynolds series, spins a mystery that involves computer hacking, kidnapping, globe-trotting — and a Taser-carrying nun.

“The Birds of Vashon Island” by Ed Swan (Constancy Press, $28.95). Ed Swan provides a guide for finding the best spots to go birding on the island. The book also gives a case study of how ecological changes can influence a discrete environment.

Daniels, a history professor emeritus (University of Cincinnati) living in Bellevue, examines the incarceration of about 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II, as well as four second-generation Japanese Americans, including Seattle’s Gordon Hirabayashi, who defied the government and their own community leaders.

“Fill of Joy: More Tales From the Montlake Fill” by Constance Sidles (Constancy Press, $23.95). Sidles, a master birder, examines the push-pull relationship between wild nature and human nature through observations at UW’s Montlake Fill, which is home to more than 250 species of birds.
