ILFC chief Steven Udvar-Hazy reportedly leaving

Steven Udvar-Hazy, a founder and CEO of airplane-leasing giant International Lease Finance Corp., may leave the company as soon as this week, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter

Steven Udvar-Hazy, a founder and CEO of airplane-leasing giant International Lease Finance Corp., may leave the company as soon as this week, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter.

John Plueger, ILFC president and chief operating officer, may succeed Udvar-Hazy, the newspaper said.

Parent company American International Group, which the federal government bailed out in September 2008, has been trying to sell ILFC because it is not part of its core insurance business.

Udvar-Hazy had been in talks to buy $4 billion in planes from the leasing firm, but that plan was recently rejected, the Journal said.

ILFC is the biggest buyer of Boeing and Airbus jets.
