AD MARKET MIXED: Broadcaster CBS Corp. said its fourth quarter showed signs of an advertising recovery, but a drop in political spending kept revenue down 1 percent at $3.50 billion. Net income fell to $59 million from $136 million a year ago.

POLITICAL TAILWINDS: A Supreme Court ruling allowing corporations to support candidates with ads is seen adding $500 million to the ad market for the midterm congressional elections this year.

CBS FILMS DISAPPOINTMENT: The broadcaster's first foray into moviemaking was called a disappointment. "Extraordinary Measures" cost about $30 million to make but has taken in only about $12 million domestically so far.
