DOWN WITHOUT THE FLU: CVS Caremark Corp. said its profit and revenue grew in the first quarter, but the 2009-2010 flu season has been so mild the company cut its annual sales forecast. It raised its profit outlook.

DOUBLE GAINS: Revenue rose for both retail stores and the Caremark division despite the mild flu season and contract losses.

EXPANSION: CVS opened 48 retail stores, relocated 53, and closed 10. It has 7,063 retail and 47 specialty pharmacies, in addition to mail order pharmacies. Its stores are spread across 44 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
