Sonus Networks 1Q loss narrows, revenue rises

Sonus Networks Inc., which makes Internet network hardware and software, said Tuesday it narrowed its loss in the first quarter as revenue increased.

WESTFORD, Mass. —

Sonus Networks Inc., which makes Internet network hardware and software, said Tuesday it narrowed its loss in the first quarter as revenue increased.

For the January-March quarter, Sonus said its net loss was $134,000, or breakeven on a per-share basis. In the year-ago quarter, the company's net loss totaled $16.2 million, or 6 cents per share.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters had forecast a net loss of 1 cent per share

Revenue increased 52 percent to $62.4 million from $41 million a year ago, more than the $51.8 million analysts were expecting.

Shares fell 12 cents, or 4.8 percent, to $2.40 in extended trading after the report was released. Earlier, the stock shed 14 cents to close at $2.52.
