New Jersey-based Toys R Us plans to close its Northgate store in Seattle at the end of January.

Corporate spokeswoman Meghan Kennedy said the closure coincides with the end of the store's "lease term," also in late January. She said Toys R Us continues to look for nearby locations and will work to place as many employees as possible at other Seattle-area stores.

The company's website lists 15 stores in the Puget Sound region.
