Boeing South Carolina gets extra bump in pay
Employees at Boeing’s manufacturing complex in North Charleston, S.C., get a bigger bonus this month than the rest of the company.

Employees at Boeing’s new manufacturing complex in South Carolina, which is non-union, will get a higher annual incentive bonus this month than those in the Puget Sound region.
All South Carolina Boeing employees, salaried and hourly, will receive 17.95 days of extra pay on Feb. 28. That’s equivalent to a bonus of 6.9 percent of base pay.
Boeing provides the South Carolina workforce a separate incentive plan from the rest of the company, with a payout based on a combination of 2012 financial results plus the North Charleston site’s performance on metrics assessing safety, quality, morale, delivery and cost.
The company incentive plan for salaried workers elsewhere in Boeing’s commercial airplanes unit will pay out a bonus of 14.75 days’ extra pay on Feb. 28.
And local hourly workers in the Machinists union have another, separate incentive plan that on Feb. 21 will pay a 3.1 percent bonus, though this is based on gross pay including overtime.
