First Hill will be the next Seattle neighborhood to host a new Whole Foods store, the company announced Wednesday during its fourth quarter earnings call.
The store is scheduled to open in early 2018 and will be part of a 16-story mixed-use development at 1001 Broadway, along the First Hill Streetcar line. It will be across the street from Swedish Medical Center and Seattle University, serving both the First Hill and Capitol Hill neighborhoods.
This is the ninth planned Puget Sound location for the organic grocery store, with others scheduled to open in Tacoma in 2015 and in West Seattle in 2017.
The First Hill store is projected to be 40,000 square feet and will bring an estimated 150 new jobs, in addition to about 500 temporary construction jobs.
