Junior college point guard signs with Cougars
Danny Lawhorn, who averaged 9.6 points and 9 assists for San Jacinto Junior College in Texas, signed a letter of intent with Washington State.
Junior-college transfer Danny Lawhorn has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Washington State next season.
The 5-foot-10 point guard played the past two seasons at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas, averaging 9.6 points and 9 assists in 60 games.
"I love his quickness and his ball handling," Cougars coach Ken Bone said. "Maybe his best attributes, though, are his unselfishness and passing ability."
Lawhorn previously attended Hartford Public High School and South Kent School, both in Connecticut.
He joins an incoming class that also includes 6-9 freshman forward Josh Hawkinson of Shorewood High School in Shoreline and 6-2 freshman guard Ike Iroegbu of Oak Hill Academy (Virginia) and Elk Grove, Calif.
No signings were announced by men's or women's teams at Seattle University, Gonzaga or Eastern Washington. Seattle U expects to announce some new men's players later in the signing period, which ends May 15.
