EUGENE, Ore. — Joseph Young just missed a triple double with 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as Oregon spoiled the return of former coach Ernie Kent with a 95-72 victory over Washington State on Sunday.

Dwayne Benjamin added 25 points for Oregon (17-7, 7-4 Pac-12), which raced to a 52-28 halftime lead on the way to its fifth win in its last six games.

Benjamin finished 10 of 11 from the field and was perfect on three 3-point attempts.

He started in place of leading rebounder Jordan Bell, who served his one-game suspension due to an incident that took place on campus earlier this week.

Dexter Kernich-Drew led the Cougars (10-13, 4-7) with 18 points off the bench. Josh Hawkinson added 14 and DaVonte Lacy had 13.

Oregon’s lead ballooned to a high of 32 on the strength of 11 points by Benjamin in the first 3 ½ minutes of the second half.

The victory avenged the Ducks’ 108-99 overtime loss to Washington State in Pullman last month. It also ruined the homecoming for WSU coach Kent, who was coaching for the first time in 4-year-old Matthew Knight Arena after being fired by Oregon in 2010.

At Stanford 70, USC 62

Chasson Randle scored 17 points, Stefan Nastic added 15 and Stanford overcame a halftime deficit to beat USC. Anthony Brown and Rosco Allen had 11 points apiece for the Cardinal (16-7, 7-4 in the Pac-12), which ended a two-game losing streak. Marcus Allen scored 10 points with 11 rebounds.

Katin Reinhardt scored 19 points and Jordan McLaughlin added 18 for the Trojans (9-14, 1-10), who lost their ninth straight. An offensive goaltending call on a Nastic basket gave Stanford a 65-59 edge with 3:31 left to play and the Trojans never got closer than four the rest of the way.
