The amazing PR nightmare for Seattle teachers' union

Earth to the Seattle teachers' union: OMG. That's "Oh my god'' in kidsspeak.
The hullaballoo about the letter from the Seattle School District informing teachers that they will lose one - one - training day is so over-the-top it is falling over the edge.
Has anybody anywhere been reading the newspapers? Listening to radio? Paying an ounce of attention? The Legislature has been talking about $9 billion in budget cuts for about 9 billion days.
The huge indignation about a letter from the district proposing the loss of one training day because of state budget cuts is beyond tone deaf. It's awful public relations for the teachers, and it's all about process.
I understand that the letter was ill-timed because it was Teacher Appreciation Week and I feel badly about that. I understand there is a more formal way to work with a testy union.
I adore teachers and loved almost every single one in the Seattle district who educated my two precious darlings.
But when it comes to exaggerated, ridiculous behavior about something so obvious as a loss of a single day of pay, I cannot side with the teachers. I can only say, "Who does your public relations?'' This is hugely embarrassing to be so indignant and so inflexible! Holy cow!!
