Michele Bachmann is so summer 2011

Posted by Joni Balter

Watching the Republican presidential contest from afar, I keep getting the feeling that the supposed Iowa frontunner, Michele Bachmann, is pulling a Donald Trump. No, I don't mean she is turning into some rabid birther, as Trump was.

I mean her campaign is hot right now but will cool with September's autumnal breezes. Trump was all pumped up back in April, when I told my friends -- yes, just friends -- he is soooooo April and will be gone by May.

No way anyone could have predicted that a) Obama would produce a very valid birth certificate that would end Trump's hyped up prediction that something very big would emerge in Hawaii. Wrong. And b) no one could have predicted the Obama administration would catch and kill Osama bin Laden at the beginning of May.

And just like that, Trump was toast.
Bachmann is a daily wonder in much the same fashion. She keeps getting tripped up in her own misinformation, about her family farm subsidies, about the difference between John Wayne and John Wayne Gacy, Jr., and for gosh's sake, the pronounciation of the word, chutzpah.

Oy vey. It's HUTZ-pah... not CHOOTS...pah!

Well, anyway, all of this doesn't even include some of the allegedly nasty things she and her husband have to say about gay individuals.

I see the makings of a flameout by fall. If I am wrong, I will admit it.
