Re-elect Snohomish County Councilman Brian Sullivan
Snohomish County Councilman Brian Sullivan is the choice in the August 16th primary.
SNOHOMISH County Councilman Brian Sullivan has earned the voters' trust and another four-year term.
Sullivan was elected to the council in 2007 with broad, deep experience in local issues. He had been on the Mukilteo City Council, and served as mayor. He went on to represent the 21st District in the Legislature. He was not starting from scratch on the topics or challenges before the County Council.
His opponents on the primary ballot are unknown and untested in local politics. Glen Sayes of Mukilteo acknowledges he really thought about the council and its functions only after he was recruited to run by Republican County Councilman John Koster. The other candidate, also a Republican, Jason Mills of Everett, is another political neophyte.
Zero civic experience is no virtue as the county tends its wounds after a tough budget cycle, prepares for a decennial review of state land-use laws and zoning, continues to expand opportunities in higher education, and works to retain and nurture the aerospace industry.
Our only disagreement with Sullivan, whose Position 2 council district includes Mukilteo and Everett, is over Paine Field. Indeed, no candidate wants to see commercial flights expanded at the airport, but past agreements and future job opportunities suggest it is inevitable.
Sullivan has always leavened his political skills with his experience as a small-business owner. He is the only choice for Position 2.
