Cinerama or the Egyptian
Two of Seattle’s historic movie theaters were renovated this year. Treat a movie fan to a flick and snacks at the Cinerama (2100 Fourth Ave., Seattle; cinerama.com) or the Egyptian (801 E. Pine St., Seattle; siff.net/egyptian-theatre). Price range: $9-$15.
Chances are there’s someone on your list who has not yet been to the downtown Seattle comedy venue that opened in June (1522 Sixth Ave.), a sibling to the 6-year-old Parlor Live in Bellevue (700 Bellevue Way N.E.). They both host top talent most weekends (parlorlive.com/index.html). Price range: $20-$35.
The opera has a new general director, Aidan Lang: Drop in on “Tosca,” an audience favorite, and see where Lang is taking the company. Jan. 10-24, McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer St., Seattle Center (seattleopera.org). Price range: $77-$231; special deals will be available on Jan. 14 for Orchestra and Orchestra Back seats.
