SPOKANE — The Gonzaga women drew the No. 11 seed in the Kingston Regional of the NCAA women's tournament and will play No. 6 Rutgers in the first round at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

Also playing in Spokane will be No. 3 seed Miami against No. 14 Idaho State, with their matchup scheduled for approximately 3:45 p.m. Saturday. Saturday's winners will play Monday with a trip to Kingston, R.I., and a spot in the regionals on the line.

The Bulldogs, who received an at-large berth after falling to Brigham Young in the West Coast Conference tournament title game, were guaranteed to play at home for the second straight season as a first- and second-round host if selected to the NCAA tournament.

Gonzaga (26-5) is making its fourth straight NCAA appearance and its fifth overall since 2007. Last year's team advanced to the Elite Eight.

Rutgers (22-9) is coached by C. Vivian Stringer, the first coach in men's or women's basketball history to take three different schools to the Final Four (Cheyney in 1982, Iowa in 1993, and Rutgers in 2000 and 2007). Her 41-season record is 885-317.

The Scarlet Knights are led by senior guard Khadijah Rushdan, who averages 13 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists; and senior guard/forward April Sykes, who averages 13.0 points and 5.5 rebounds. Both were all-Big East first-team selections.

Tickets for the first- and second-round games at McCarthey are on sale. Individual game tickets are $20 for adults, $14 for youth 12 and under. All-session tickets for the tournament are $35 for adults and $23 for youth 12 and under. They can be purchased online at or by calling TicketsWest at 1-800-325-7328.
