Josh Smith , Kentwood boys basketball

Smith, a 6-foot-9 sophomore center, helped the Conquerors win the River Ridge Winter Challenge championship at Saint Martin's College in Lacey. He had 21 points and four rebounds in a 75-50 win over River Ridge, then followed with 25 points and 14 rebounds in a 54-41 victory against Prairie in the title game. Smith shot 20 of 21 from the field for the tournament.

Kayla Williams , Ballard girls basketball

Williams, a 5-8 senior guard, had 18 points, including four three-pointers, six rebounds, four assists and four steals as the Beavers rallied to beat St. Mary's of Berkeley, Calif., 47-44, and win the Surf Division of the Surf 'N Slam tournament in San Diego. In three games, she totaled 47 points, 17 assists, 14 rebounds, 11 steals and was named tournament MVP.

Federal Way girls basketball team

The Eagles, coached by Danny Graham, won the Gold Division title at the Santa Slam tournament in Oak Harbor. Federal Way edged host Oak Harbor 32-30 in the championship with only four players scoring. In the first round, the Eagles beat Lynden 63-55.
