Class 4A

Ryan Bergman, Issaquah football: Bergman completed 26 of 35 passes for 531 yards and six touchdowns in a 40-7 victory over Redmond.

Alexis Olgard, Mead volleyball: Olgard led her team to the championship at the Crossover Tournament in Spokane. In seven matches, she had 49 kills, 20 blocks, nine aces and 28 digs. Her hitting percentage was .368.

Class 3A

Carl Jonson, Bainbridge golf: Jonson, a junior, shot back-to-back 5-under par 30s at Wing Point Golf and Country Club. He medaled in the first match by one stroke and won the second match by four.

Rachel Lewis, Peninsula golf: Lewis, a sophomore, hit a hole-in-one with a driver on the 244-yard, par-4 ninth hole at Brookdale GC. She won the match with an even-par 38.

Class 2A

Drew Clausen, West Valley (Spokane) football: Clausen completed 10 of 15 passes for 210 yards and four touchdowns in a 48-21 victory over Deer Park.

Danielle Gilchrist, Mark Morris volleyball: Gilchrist had 19 service points, seven aces and 28 assists in the Monarchs' win over R.A. Long, and collected 12 service points, nine aces and 20 assists in a win over Washougal.

Class 1A

Jon Charroin, Nooksack Valley football: Charroin returned the opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown in a 23-20 win over Meridian. He also had 10 tackles and two sacks.

(No 1A girls nominated.)


Class 2B

Chris Pence, Reardan football: Pence rushed for 212 yards on 16 carries, caught two passes for 20 yards and scored two TDs in a 42-14 victory over Liberty (Spangle).

Amanda Tofaeono, Christian Faith volleyball: Tofaeono, a sophomore, put up 34 assists, four blocks, 23 digs and eight kills in a victory over Tacoma Baptist.

Class 1B

Henry Matai, Lyle-Wishram football: Matai, a junior, carried 14 times for 287 yards and scored five touchdowns — two on kickoff returns — in a 60-24 victory over St. John-Endicott. He also was in on 17 tackles (11 solo) and batted down two passes.

Myriah Dombrowsky, Three Rivers Christian volleyball: Dombrowsky had 51 assists, 19 aces, 23 kills and 20 digs in three wins for the Eagles from Kelso.

The WIAA/Seattle Times State Athletes of the Week are selected by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association and The Seattle Times from nominations by athletic directors around the state.
