EDMONDS — Six weeks into the season, Edmonds-Woodway running back Desmond Young hadn't played a full football game.
He played a few quarters here and there and then missed three games altogether with an injury. But on Friday night, in a game against Mariner that decided the WesCo 4A South's No. 2 seed, Young carried 20 times for 186 yards and four touchdowns in a 44-13 win Friday night at Edmonds Stadium.
"For the first game of my senior year to be the seventh game of the year, it's been killing me," Young said.
Young and the Warriors took a 20-0 lead in the first quarter. He started the game with a 38-yard run and capped the first touchdown drive with a 4-yard run.
Edmonds-Woodway (6-2 overall, 4-1) finished second in the WesCo 4A South Division, which means the Warriors will avoid the possibility of playing a No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
