AUBURN — It was a family affair for senior Cassidy Meyers in the Region II girls wrestling tournament Saturday.

Meyers pinned all three of her opponents in winning the 124-pound title, improving to 29-1 this season.

She is in position to become Kentwood's first female to become a four-time state placer. She won the 118-pound final last year to follow in the footsteps of her half-sister, Jolene Crook-Meyers, who earned the 140-pound state crown as a senior in 2009. Crook-Meyers placed four times at state, but the girls tournament was an invitational her freshman year.

Equally exciting for Cassidy was watching her two younger brothers qualify for state. Sophomore Walker Meyers (120) and junior Dalton Meyers both took second Saturday. Walker just missed making the cut last season, while Dalton will be making his third trip.

"I want to say I'm a proud mother, but I'm not their mom," she said with a smile.

Her lone loss was to Federal Way senior Bianca Arizpe, who won the regional title at 118 Saturday and helped the Eagles finish first in the team race with 112 points. White River was second with 101.

Beamer had a pair of champions in sophomores Arian Carpio (112) and Vanessa Dixon (145). Both are unbeaten. Carpio placed second at state last season at 106, while Dixon was third at 137.

Lakes senior Kiaya Van Scoyoc, the defending champion at 155, upped her record to 29-1 in taking the regional title.

Travis Mango of Federal Way was named the region's girls coach of the year.
