Timmy Haehl

Bellevue football

The Wolverines took the wraps off their senior quarterback in his final game and Haehl led them to their sixth straight 3A state title, 52-20 over Eastside Catholic. He ran for two touchdowns, passed for one and returned one of his two interceptions for another. Oh, he forced a fumble, too. “Timmy made great decisions and great plays,” coach Butch Goncharoff said. “It was awesome.”

Sarah Ott

Shoreline Christian girls basketball

Ott, a 5-foot-10 junior point guard, exploded for a career-high 50 points in a 60-52 victory over Highland Prep Christian, pouring in 20 of 38 field goals, including one three-pointer, and 7 of 12 free throws – despite a box-and-one defense for half the game. She scored all of her team’s 21 third-quarter points and finished with seven rebounds and eight steals. “Sarah has an innate ability to score no matter what the defense is doing to stop her,” coach Arie Mahler said.

Bellevue football team

Nobody does it better in Washington high-school football than Goncharoff’s Wolverines. With the 52-20 victory over Eastside Catholic, they stretched their state-record winning streak to 54 and claimed a sixth consecutive 3A state championship. Bellevue has won 11 of the past 13 titles.
