Zillah beats King’s, 52-46, for 1A state title | Boys basketball

YAKIMA — Tournament MVP Brady Widner scored a game-high 21 points to lead Zillah to a 52-46 win over King’s for the Class 1A boys state championship Saturday at the SunDome. It capped a perfect season for the Leopards, who finished 27-0.
Calvin Kispert led King’s (25-3) with 10 points.
Lynden Christian 55, King’s 40
Tournament MVP Kara Bajema scored 13 points to lead four double-figure scorers as Lynden Christian beat King’s in Yakima.
Courtney Hollander and Sally Vlas added 11 points each, and Sara Dougan chipped in 10 as the Lyncs built an early lead they never relinquished.
Karly Hibbard led King’s (24-5) with 14 points and Julia Bernson scored 13.
Anacortes 56, Lake Washington 48
Ty Johnson led three Seahawks players in double figures as Anacortes got the third-place win over Lake Washington. Johnson led all scorers with 18 points.
Lake Washington, which will rise to Class 3A next year, earned its first trophy in its first 2A state appearance.
Kelly Guy scored 15 points to lead the Kangaroos.
White River 62, East Valley 55
Kendall Bird scored a game-high 23 points to lead White River to fourth place in Yakima.
White River (24-6) earned its second trophy in three state trips at the Class 2A level.
Okanogan 56, Seattle Academy 37
Jim Townsend scored a game-high 20 points to lead Okanogan to a third-place finish in Yakima.
The Bulldogs (27-1) earned their seventh trophy in their seventh trip to the 1A tournament. Fifth-place Seattle Academy (20-6) earned its highest finish in the tournament.
CPC (Bothell) 54, Toledo 39
Trey Drechsel scored a game-high 16 points to lead Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) to fourth place with a win over Toledo.
Cedar Park Christian took control with a 17-5 run in the second quarter that saw Toledo held scoreless over the final five minutes of the half.
The Eagles, which shot 50 percent (21 of 42) from the field, earned their third trophy in five state appearances.
Bear Creek 63, Liberty 39
Jesse Leuenberger scored 26 points and the Grizzlies defeated the Lancers for third place in the state 2B tournament in Spokane.
Collin Feight added 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Luke Blankenbeckler dished out six assists for the Grizzlies.
Neah Bay 55, Shorewood Christian 44
The Red Devils started hot and held on to claim third place in the state 1B tournament in Spokane.
The Lions trimmed the lead down to six in the fourth quarter, but they committed a flurry of turnovers that allowed the Red Devils to extend the lead once again.
Shorewood Christian took fifth.
