Locker is Pac-10 freshman of the year

Washington quarterback Jake Locker was named freshman of the year in the Pacific 10 Conference. Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon was the offensive player of the year, USC nose tackle Sedrick Ellis was the top defensive player, and Arizona State's Dennis Erickson was coach of the year.

Locker passed for 2,062 yards and ran for 986 yards, a modern Pac-10 record for rushing yards by a quarterback.

Washington State receiver Brandon Gibson was named to the first team. Cougars quarterback Alex Brink and tight end Jed Collins were named to the second team. Washington center Juan Garcia and running back Louis Rankin were second-team selections.

Locker, Huskies defensive lineman Jordan Reffett and receiver Anthony Russo received honorable mention. For Washington State, safety Husain Abdullah, receiver Michael Bumpus and linebackers Andy Mattingly and Greg Trent received honorable mention.
