Fans can name Washington's Husky

The school is accepting nominations for a permanent name for its dog mascot, which it will reveal Nov. 15 at the UCLA-UW football game.

The school is accepting nominations for a permanent name for its dog mascot, which it will reveal Nov. 15 at the UCLA-UW football game.

The current Huskies mascot, Spirit, is retiring after this season.

Fans can submit nominations through Oct. 9. at www.gohuskies.com. A committee will then develop a short list that will go to an online vote, beginning on Oct. 20.

Besides Spirit, previous mascots over the years have been named Frosty, Wasky, Ski, Denali, King Chinook, Regent Denali, Sundodger, King Redoubt and Prince Redoubt.
