Player of the game

Once again, it has to go to Washington quarterback Keith Price, who was almost flawless, save for one fumble on a scramble. Price completed 19 of 25 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns, and now has 14 TD passes this season.

Play of the game

The Huskies appeared in danger of handing the momentum back to California early in the fourth quarter, facing a third-and-12 at their own 30-yard line. But the Huskies dialed up a play they'd been working on all week, sending Chris Polk out of the backfield and deep down the middle of the field. Polk caught a pass in stride and raced untouched into the end zone on a 70-yard scoring play.

Turning point

Like last year against Cal, this one really wasn't over until it was over. Cal had first-and-goal at the 2-yard line with 42 seconds left but couldn't score, thanks to two incomplete passes and two runs that were stopped. A fourth-down fade route to Keenan Allen fell incomplete with 21 seconds left, finally ending the suspense.

Key stat

Cal got into the red zone — UW's 20-yard line or inside — five times, but scored just one touchdown, held to field goals three other times and failing to convert a fourth down on another. UW scored touchdowns on three of four chances inside the red zone.

Injury report

Washington LB John Timu (neck) was taken to Harborview for precautionary reasons but had movement in all his extremities and should be fine. DE Hau'oli Jamora suffered a knee sprain of unknown severity; cornerback Greg Ducre suffered a concussion, RB Johri Fogerson a knee contusion.

Key quote

"Keep giving us another down to stop them. We knew that as long as they gave us another down we would stop them before they scored there." — UW defensive tackle Alameda Ta'amu on the feeling on the last drive.

By the numbers

3 Cal's points in the second half. The Bears did not score on their final four possessions (two punts, two stops on fourth down) after kicking a field goal on their first drive of the second half.

3-1 UW's record, the first time since 2006 the Huskies have won three of their first four games.

60 Chris Polk's rushing yards, snapping a streak of five straight 100-yard rushing games dating to last season.

67 Keith Price's season pass-completion percentage (75 of 112).
