Washington's ballyhooed scrimmage against NBA alumni that was supposedly canceled took place after all Wednesday afternoon without fans or media.

The Huskies wanted to open the Edmundson Pavilion doors to the public, but inadvertently put themselves in jeopardy of breaking an NCAA rule when coach Lorenzo Romar spoke about the scrimmage and players invited fans via Twitter.

The school positioned ushers and closed the curtains around the main floor to keep the scrimmage private.

Still, several former Washington stars, several of them NBA players who are idle because of the leaguewide lockout, were spotted in the building and on the floor. They included Brandon Roy, Nate Robinson, Jon Brockman, Spencer Hawes, Quincy Pondexter, Will Conroy, Isaiah Thomas and Mike Jensen.

The former players wore their old jerseys. Robinson and Thomas each had No. 2.
