Washington’s Keith Price hasn’t been ruled out from playing at Oregon State on Saturday, but the senior quarterback won’t be allowed to throw until Thursday, UW coach Steve Sarkisian told The Seattle Times.

“I want to see what he looks like on Thursday,” Sarkisian said Sunday.

Price sustained an injury to his right throwing shoulder late in the second quarter Friday night and did not return.

Redshirt freshman Cyler Miles relieved Price to start the second half in the Huskies’ eventual 41-31 loss at No. 13 UCLA.

An MRI showed “a lot of inflammation” in Price’s shoulder, Sarkisian said.

Sarkisian took a similar approach with Price several week ago when the quarterback was nursing a right thumb injury. Miles took the majority of practice reps with the No. 1 offense in the week leading up to UW’s home game against California on Oct. 26. Price then practiced that Thursday — and practiced well enough to convince Sarkisian to start him against Cal.

After absorbing a hard hit Friday night, Price attempted to throw one soft warmup pass on the Rose Bowl sideline before slumping his right shoulder and wincing in pain. He watched the second half from the sideline, his shoulder pads off and an ice pad covering his upper arm.

If Price is unable to go, Miles would be in line for his first career start.

Two years ago, Nick Montana made his first (and only) start for the Huskies at Oregon State, subbing for an injured Price. Price then came off the bench in the fourth quarter and nearly led a UW comeback before the Beavers held on for a 38-21 win.

Kickoff against Oregon State is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Reser Stadium for an ESPN2 broadcast.
