A refurbished Edmonds Station, featuring easier access to commuter bus lines, is ready to open Friday.

Sound Transit is holding an 11 a.m. ceremony at the waterfront depot, where Amtrak and Sounder passenger trains arrive seven blocks south of the ferry terminal. The project includes a repaved parking lot, landscaping, new lighting, bicycle lockers and a bronze sculpture named Standing Wave, by artist Gerard Tsutakawa. A new loop road will bring Community Transit buses alongside the rail station, for easier connections.

The $12.9 million project is less elaborate than the original “Edmonds Crossing” proposal for a relocated train station to be combined with a new ferry terminal.
