Locals bound for SXSW 2012: Grave Babies and more

Posted by Andrew Matson

Warning: violence

"The annual spring break for the music industry" called South by Southwest just announced more bands playing the conference/festival mid-March in Austin, Texas. Locals named were Grave Babies, Night Beats, Craft Spells, Brite Futures, The Curious Mystery, Voltaire Twins and Witchburn. Previously announced: Motopony and Say Hi.

See the whole list of official SXSW 2012 performers so far here.

Keep in mind that SXSW starts in bars and clubs in downtown Austin, but the energy bleeds into all kinds of concerts and showcases that aren't "official" but accomplish the same goals for artists: be in a sunny place, perform for a high concentration of industry people, network with other artists, etc. Even after SXSW has made all its announcements of who's playing, there will be many more local acts who'll make the trek.

Check out Grave Babies' destroyed/pop-y "Pleasures," above, with its disturbing video. Night Beats' aggro/skeletal/psychedelic "They Came in Through the Window" is below — make sure you stick around for the guitar solo.
