Damien Jurado: neo-folk forerunner still inspiring

Photo of Damien Jurado by Sarah Jurado, from The Seattle Times' press room concert

Seattle's Damien Jurado is well into his singer-songwriter career — 12 albums in three decades — and still inspiring fans and other musicians. Evidence: "Jurado Covers," a collection of local acts doing his songs, which I've been blogging individually this week, gathered and made available to The Seattle Times by Damien's partner Sarah. Read my review of Mr. Jurado's zenlike "Maraqopa" album below, out Feb 21. And while you're clicking, consider downloading all the covers in one handy link. Jurado plays a big concert tonight at the Neptune.
