This week in Seattle beats: Chocolate Chuck, Keyboard Kid

Seattle is awash in quality instrumental hip-hop right now, or music that starts there and branches outward. Last week it was Giorgio Momurda. Soon I will review the new OC Notes album. This week, the tracks to listen to are by Chocolate Chuck and Keyboard Kid.

Chuck has been working on his combination Prince Paul / Flying Lotus style, and it's paying off on "Who is it" and "Away from me," soulful numbers he played out in Ballard at the recent Reverb Fest, then uploaded to soundcloud:

And Keyboard Kid has fully fallen down the Internet hole on "Computers and Drugs," a new EP that sounds like its title. One highlight consists of gunshots, burping frogs and lazers ("N3w@93S7@v3" — which I interpret as "New Age Slave"):
