'Now I'm Fine' and other happenings this week

3109b69f3622488d7b9cb2a7ef062d69_large.jpgLocal musician, comedian and writer Ahamefule Oluo has been worth keeping tabs on for many moons. I got hip through his heartbreaking "Cloud-Dad" article last year, and work as a jazz/pop/hip-hop sideman. But where's the grand statement from Oluo? He presents "the most ambitious thing I've ever done in my life" Sunday, Dec. 9 at Town Hall, an original musical called "Now I'm Fine."

It has been successfully kickstartered for $4,000, paying production costs and musicians. He's been working on it for five years. Tickets are five dollars. Five years for five dollars.

When I saw him on the street recently I asked, "Well, are you fine?" At the moment he was stressed, putting in last-minute work to make sure the musical would go smoothly.

Sadly I'll be out of town this week and miss the production.

Other happenings this week I'll miss:

Wednesday: Ty Segall at Neumos

Thursday: Charles Bradley at Neumos

Thursday: John Cale at Showbox at the Market

Friday: Cave Singers at Showbox at the Market

Saturday: Future at Showbox at the Market
