Whooping-cough vaccinations

Posted by Letters editor

Protect the children

I am alarmed at the resurgence of whooping cough in this area. I have two friends who have been desperately sick with this disease that I thought nonexistent in the U.S. My mother (who would be 100 if still living) talked about it in her youth. This is the first state I have lived in that allowed children in public schools without vaccinations unless they had imperiled immunity systems. Since everyone else was vaccinated, these fragile children were kept safe. [“Vaccine skeptics protest bill requiring doc’s note,” page one, March 23.]

I ask that we would give our public-health people some credence in this area and work to protect all of us. Please get all our children vaccinated.
