Occupy protesters begin squatting in vacant houses
Posted by Letters editor
What else will protesters decide they have a right to?
It should come as no surprise after a couple of months camping out and with the weather turning, that the Occupy Movement has turned to occupying vacant homes. [“Occupy shifts to squatting in houses,” NWWednesday, Nov. 30.]
Their justification is that as representatives of the people, they are deserving of taking shelter from properties that belong to banks and other entities they hold in disdain.
How long before they decide to take over privately owned occupied buildings using the same logic? And how far down this slippery slope do they go, substituting their judgment about who deserves to have what they have earned? A display of hubris of which a dictator would be proud.
