A parting shot at Goldman Sachs

Government of the profiteers

Editor, The Times:

Certainly one should leave a job with as much dignity and grace as possible, but to run a companion piece about not burning bridges at a job in tandem with Greg Smith’s article about his former employer, Goldman Sachs, is utterly beside the point. [“A parting shot at Goldman renews talk of greed, excess,” and “Dramatic exits can feel sooooo good . . . and yet,” News, March 15.]

That the major financial players in this country continue, in the face of the economic collapse they helped orchestrate, to put profit above all and mow down everyone else in their path should come as no surprise to anyone.

The question is, why it has been allowed to continue. It seems that our government is no longer “of the people” at all, but “of the profiteers.”
